First things first, get our keys to the Kingdom (your room key, dinning plan, and park tickets all on one card for each person, they are very important)! So we checked into our hotel The Wilderness Lodge. Above you can see a view of the lobby from the 6th floor hallway balcony, the same floor our room was on.
And of course you are welcomed to your room by a Mickey towel creation! And a welcome phone message from Goofy!
Off to the Magic Kingdom! Remember this is a huge perk about staying in a Disney owned Resort and using the Magical Express Bus. Those little magical elves waited for our luggage at the airport and gathered it up and delivered it to our room while we were out having fun!
Dave enjoying his first ferry boat ride. We took this ferry boat almost everyday to the Magic Kingdom or the Monorail. The ride was only about 5 minutes and the longest we ever waited for a ferry was about 10 minutes.
Our first glimpse of the Magic Kingdom!
And what is the top must ride ride at Disney? It's a Small World, of course!
It is a great ride to start with.
And aren't these ducks cute? Well, that is what we thought till the ride stopped in front of them for 20 minutes.
And the best way to end your first meal at Disney is with a wonderful dessert. We had dinner at Tony's Town Square Restaurant, yes that is where the Lady and the Tramp fell in love, on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom. Both and Chris and I had the chef's special strawberry cheesecake for dessert.
And since we met every chef personally at every restaurant we ate at during our whole trip. This is for Dave being lactose intolerant, Disney will send the chef out to your table for any food allergies and he will customize the menu for you. So for our first dinner the chef made Dave a special huge meatball and spaghetti. Then for dessert he found some lactose free ice cream for Dave to enjoy. Dave had also asked the chef for some apples, which he happily brought to the table.
Another thing that was great about our hotel was that we could watch the Magic Kingdom Wishes Fireworks display from our room balcony! It was great to get our snacks and head to the room to watch the fireworks and not have to fight the crowds leaving the parks.
