Day 3: Let's take a walk on the wild side.

Started the day off at the Whispering Canyon Cafe again, with Chef Eddie. Then we headed to Disney's Animal Kingdom! First thing was to grab a Fastpass for Kilimanjaro Safaris. After getting that we walked over to the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail.

Notice that duck standing on a Lily pad? That is who Dave is looking at in the first picture, "I thought only frogs could stand on Lily pads, huh."

Next up the big gorillas. We were lucky enough to see the new baby gorilla, but I couldn't get my camera out fast enough, mom was very quick to turn her back to hide the little one.

At the hippo pool, they were in the very far back, you could see their butts. Also, on the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail, we saw meerkats, naked mole rats, and free flying birds just to name a few.

After our walk on the trail it was time to use our fastpasses for the Kilimanjaro Safaris. This was one of my favorite rides and probably the closest that I will ever got to a real African safari. The ride was great! Our tour guide and driver was very knowledgeable about the animals. The safari vehicle can only stop if an animal crosses in front of it, they are to continue moving. The continuous movement will not allow the animals to become accustom to humans, therefore they will be able to breed and help to repopulate some of the endangered animals to be released back into the wild. Our guide also told us that the park is guarded by helicopters to protect the animals from poachers. It is a very bumpy ride, but one not to be missed! (I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves.)

(We saw these white birds walking all over the parks and trying to steal people's food, for some reason Dave thinks that Pop will surely know what kind of bird this is.)

As you approaching the crocodiles, your tour guide warns you that the bridge doesn't look to sturdy . . . but we must cross anyway. . . (the bridge is very old and shaky, the drive says that he's not sure if he's going to make it, so as soon as his front tires are off the bridge he's going to floor it, and he does, so hang on!)

You can see the safari vehicles that you ride on in the this picture, just behind that tree.

Some silver back monkeys on that huge rock.

Pumba!

Amazing, just like a real safari!!

After our safari, we ate lunch at the Restaurantosaurus. And then caught the next Wildlife Express Train, and enjoyed a behind the scenes tour of Animal Kingdom on our way to Rafiki's Planet Watch. ( The Wildlife train is the only way in and out of Rafiki's Planet Watch.) This is where we learned about conservation and what we can do at home to help the planet. Also at this location is a section on how Disney's cares for all the animals at Animal Kingdom.

Here they had a small petting zoo.

And TURTLES! Even Disney's loves turtles!

I think they are watching for the Wildlife Express to come back so that we can go back to the main part of the park.

How can you not love a turtle bench!

After a fun day at Animal Kingdom we went to Epcot for dinner at the Rose & Crown Pub. The food was excellent and our waitress was from Southport, on of my favorite spots in
England.

After dinner we went for a short walk around Epcot to see some of the dancing water!

No, I didn't forget to show you our towel creation of the day!
